Guest house

The guest house 'Cvl Ciavalini' was created in 1948 close to the beach that till today is the most pristine of this place 'Foro di Ortona'. Wilde nature, not for all people, due to inaccessibility of the place/beach that you can access only by the under rail tunnels by feet. Very famous and loved among all kinds of artists around Italy, that have claimed this place as their heart destination.

Apartments

Two are the apartments suitable for families, named 'Bellini' and 'Puccini', and three the 'suite style' lovely bedrooms with one bathroom each and one kitchen each suitable for couples in love, named 'Tintoretto', 'Vivaldi' and 'Rossini'. '60 italian style each, all apartments/suites bring you back to the glamour and grace of the italian culture and style, but adapted to the modernities. Not a simple holiday, but a real experience.

Beach & Environment

The beach with its dunes is an obvious stage for all people who love the real freedom. It's a nature reserve, with its own flora and fauna still visible. In this environment quoted by poets such as D'Annunzio, you can see flowers such as the spectacular sea-lilac (also named the bride flower) and the silene: a great simplicity not damaged from mass-tourism that doesen't reach this far.

The place


Among all the numerous guest houses, 'Cvl Ciavalini' has been one of the first. Created by my father, not for business but to live in it, in 1952 hosted the first traveller (at that time the holiday was for few people, the wealthy ones ).

Over time the house has become a place of real charme (not built ad hoc by a 'new age architect'), destination of travellers with a poetic soul who want to live a real journey experience.

I put the same enthusiasm of my father in managing my home, togheter with my mother (the name of the house is dedicated to her), my sister and my sweet granddaughter. The house is our life, is the way in keeping connection with my father alive, beacuse this place has been his 'soul place'.

We love sharing this authenticity with the people who doesn't look for a 'similar hotel perfection', but for emotions, the same emotions that ourselves feel living in it...every day.

The house is one meter far from the beach. The garden looks like straight out of one of the movies of Gina Lollobrigida. In it you can find the 'circolo della granita', our bar, where you can have an italian breakfast (gluten free and hand made), if you don't want to prepare it in your kitchen by yourself.

Bellini is the apartment on the ground floor, it has its own front door. There are three '50 style bedrooms (two bedrooms with two double bed that we can eventually divide into 2 single beds each, and one bedroom with a double bed plus a single bed), a bathroom with shower, a typical italian old style traditional kitchen, and a lovely venetian style patio where you can find a 3 meters long masonry table and two sleepers. A part of the patio is a porch with venetian windows, the other part is a small garden inspired to Gaudì, with a a barbecue grilling area to serve lunches and dinners in the patio. Bellini is suitable to 4 adults maximum, plus 1 or 2 children.

Puccini is on the second floor of the house, and looks toward the see. Puccini is a penthouse, but there's only one bedroom with a low ceiling, the other two bedrooms have normal ceiling. This bedroom has no door, but has an arch that divide it from the hallway. In this bedroom there's a double bed that eventually we can divide into two single beds. The other two bedrooms have a breathless view all over the sea; in each of them there are two double beds. There's a bathroom with a shower and a little bath tube for children, a kitchen and a little terrace that faces the sea water, suitable for outdoor lunches and dinners. The marine view is amazing and the apartment is always free and breezy. Puccini is suitable to 2 adults maximum plus 3 children maximum

Rossini is the 'Queen' of the suites. It is on the first floor and faces the beach. It's style is a '60 gracefully noir style. It comfortably accommodates a couple in a nice setting. A fine place for a very romantic journey on the water's edge of the sea in Ortona. Rossini is an open-space accomodation, where you can find a double bed, a balcony that faces the sea, a bathroom with tube, an intimate lounge with 'home theatre system audio/tv' and a living room. There's also a very comfortable cooking area and a second balcony that faces the sea and the garden. There's a modern 'multichannel stereo sound system' in all the room (optional), so you can choose different types of music for a very sofisticated experience. The sea view is fantastic.

Tintoretto: venetian soul with oriental accents. This is the only romantic suite that doesn't not face the sea, but you'll easily forgive it for its strong personality and its charme typical of the past times. On the first floor of the house. There are a bedroom with a double bed, a normal kitchen (with a cooking area, fridge and oven), and a bathroom with a comfortable shower. There's also a balcony that don't face the sea, but faces the green hills and the road/rail, even if you can see the sea from one of the side of it. On the balcony there's a table to have meals outdoor and has shadowing tents to give to you the maximum privacy. Tintoretto has a modern 'multichannel stereo sound system' (optional) in all the room too, so you can choose different types of music for a very sofisticated experience.

All around

I think that the holidays are a 'state of mind' of flexibility that bring us in contact with very different lifestyle too, and make us to adapt. A good hospitality enhance the peculiarities instead of flattening them, to give to the traveller a real journey experience.
The see is just out of the little gate, so you can live it really as you want at every time! Imagine a midnight swim or a beach bonfire with your friends. It's not rare to see these situations here. The beach, except during the weekend, isn't crowded so you can live undisturbed the poetic side of the see too.
The sunrise over the sea is amazing, it's a show that never stop surprising me. The sun rises from the sea, just in front of the house. But the sunsets are beautiful too: the sun goes down behind the 'Gemelli Mountains' that rise straight up the 'gulf of Abruzzi and Marche coast', that you can see clearly from here.
You are 5 minutes away from Francavilla, where you can find the grocery stores. Then you have the bar of 'Circolo della granita' just in the garden! Not only hand-made 'italian style ice creams', but also italian breakfast with hand-made desserts, and cocktails. All gluten-free. If you like it, you're welcome.

Directions to find us
The address isn't correctly charted on navigators. Please, follow these directions: set "stazione di Tollo Canosa Sannita" as your destination. 40 meters far from this you find a 'tobacco shop/bar Lilly', you have to park your car on the rail side, then go throught the under-rail tunnel in front of it. After the tunnel follow the path on your left, then open the second gate.
